Device assignment management

This article will demonstrate how to assign a user to a device and explain the various methods for doing so.

When a mobile user logs in to the Handy app using their mobile phone, the app automatically retrieves the phone's IMEI and assigns it to this user. This is done to make sure it's not possible to log in from multiple phones.

From the web portal, you can see this information on the user's profile:

Sometimes, users need to change devices due to loss or replacement. Before, users had to contact the administrator to allow them to change devices and keep working. This made the assigning process slower and less effective, which is why we have now decided to add a filter to speed up the process. Now, you can unassign a device directly through the web portal. The user can also just log out on the previous mobile phone, which will unassign the IMEI, allowing them to sign in using the new phone.

If you click on the device's name, you'll see the options to sign out and unassign:

We still only allow one device to be logged in at the same time, which is why a user can't change mobile phones without permission.

If a device isn't being used, it will log out after 72 hours; however, the device will not be unassigned unless the user signs in using another device.

This also means that, when a user manually logs out from the app, the device is unassigned in the web portal.
