Print tickets from the web portal (Text2Barcode)

Handy allows you to print orders, deliveries, and collections in a ticket format from the web portal.

First, you'll need to connect and set up your mobile printer to your computer, either by cable or via Bluetooth. Once your computer has recognized your printer, you can continue.

We'll use an external app called Text2Barcode, which will allow you to print the .handy file that is created for printing.

This app can be used on Windows, macOS, and Android devices.

Once it's installed and running, the app will have a folder waiting for a specific type of file, in this case, files ending in ".handy".

When the folder receives a new ".handy" file, the app will automatically send the file to the printer you previously set up.

We recommend that the settings point to your computer's Downloads folder, so when you download a new print file from our website, your file is printed automatically.

How to install and set up Text2Barcode

To download the app, follow one of the following links, depending on your operating system:

MacOS

Windows

Android

For all three systems, the steps to follow are very similar. First, add a new device by clicking on Add.

Here, you'll need to give your printer a name. We recommend giving it a name that's easy to identify in case you have several printers connected).

Then, set up the following information:

  • Path: Choose which folder the app will be watching for new files to print. We recommend that you choose the Downloads folder.
  • Look for file extension: Here, you'll write "handy" without the quotations. This is the extension of the files downloaded from the web portal that will be printed by the program.
  • Unzip zip: It's important that this setting is disabled.

The rest of the settings are optional.

Once we have our device set up, we need to press the Start button at the bottom right of the screen.

You'll see a text indicating that the app is running correctly, reading: The service has started.

It's important to know that even if you minimize or close the program, it will still run in the background, waiting for new files to print.

Back in the Handy web portal, you'll need to select which type of printer you're using. In your company settings, go to the Tickets tab, where you'll find the ticket settings:

Make sure to pick the correct settings, as every mobile printer uses different communication protocols. These settings define how Handy communicates with your printer.

To know if your printer supports CPCL or ESCPOS, look at your printer's documents.

Now, we've started the process to print the files you download from our web portal when selecting a delivery, order, or collection and pressing on the Print ticket button.
